New Voluntary Benefit: LifeBalance Discount ProgramLifeBalance is a well-being focused discount program that works like an online coupon book. From fitness clubs and family attractions to weight management and white-water rafting, LifeBalance offers discounts on purchases and activities that help County employees stay active, reduce stress, and live life to the fullest at no cost to employees. Starting October 13: log into Workday, click on “Open Enrollment” tab then click on “Enroll in Voluntary Benefits”- This will take you to our external Voluntary Benefit partner, AlliantChoice+, to create your free account. A New Blue Shield Medicare PPO Advantage Plan for Retirees 65 or overIf you are retiring soon, we wanted to let you know about our NEW Blue Shield Medicare PPO Advantage Plan for Retirees who are 65 or over. The County is excited to introduce this new Blue Shield Medicare PPO Advantage Plan with Prescription Drug being offered to Retirees who are 65 years or older. This new Medicare Advantage PPO Plan provides comprehensive medical coverage, at a significantly lower monthly premium cost, with access to see any Medicare contracted provider or hospital with a defined predictable co-payment schedule – not only in California, but nationwide. Plan ahead! Remember, the health plan you are enrolled in at the time of retirement is the Medicare health plan you will be enrolled in on your retirement date or when you turn 65. MYBENEFITS.LIFEThe Ben-IQ app will be transitioning to this new and improved, MyBenefits.Life (MBL). Blue Shield Medicare Advantage PPO PlanBeginning January 1, 2021, the County of San Mateo will replace the current Medicare COB (Coordination of Benefits) PPO Plan with our new Blue Shield Group Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug (GMAPD) PPO Plan. This plan offers PPO flexibility and freedom to see any Medicare provider nationwide including out-of-network providers that accept Medicare. You will be paying the same predictable and defined low copayments regardless if the provider is contracted with Blue Shield as long as they accept Medicare. This plan includes a NEW Vision coverage with eye exams for a $10 copay and $150 frames/lenses and contacts allowance and will give you access to gyms and fitness classes provided through the NEW SilverSneakers fitness program. All current Blue Shield Medicare COB PPO plan members will be automatically enrolled into the new Blue Shield Medicare Advantage PPO plan on January 1, 2021.
