Shaping Our Success: Youth Jobs Summit
On April 4th students from Jefferson High School in Daly City will attend our 2nd annual Youth Jobs Summit. The afternoon event will help provide students with the skills they will need to impress potential employers and land the job. The 2018 event is sponsored by District 5 in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and several community partners.
Youth from East Palo Alto, Redwood City, North Fair Oaks and Menlo Park took part in the County’s first Youth Jobs Summit on April 15th and 22nd. The first day of the 2-day event provided young people ages 16-22 with a full day of instruction around networking, creating resumes and interviewing. On day two, the youth used the skills they learned the week before by interviewing with various local employers for summer internships. In addition, career attire was provided to the youth by a local online clothing business. The successful event was sponsored by District 4 in collaboration with the Human Resources Department and support from the Human Services Agency, Library, Office of Sustainability, San Mateo County Health, Department of Public Works, Sheriff’s Office, and Elections and many community partners, including Siena Youth Center, One EPA, and SWAG.
