What’s New for 2022

CIGNA DHMO DENTAL PLAN IS REPLACING THE DELTA DENTAL DHMO Plan

Beginning January 1, 2022, the County of San Mateo will replace the current Delta Dental HMO (DHMO) Plan with a new Cigna HMO (DHMO) Dental Plan. (we will continue to offer the current Cigna PPO plan with no changes)

Under the new Cigna DHMO plan, orthodontic benefits will be offered to enrolled retirees and your covered dependents at no cost, as this is an added benefit for the new 2022 Cigna DHMO Plan.

All current Delta DHMO plan members will automatically be transferred into the new Cigna DHMO plan on January 1, 2022 unless you notify the County of San Mateo Benefits Division that you wish to change or select the Cigna PPO Plan. (Please Note: we will NO LONGER offer the Delta Dental DHMO Plan)

We will continue to offer the current Cigna PPO plan and there will be NO CHANGES for anyone currently enrolled in the current Cigna PPO plan.

Orthodontic coverage will not be offered to retirees enrolled in the Cigna PPO plan.
