Recruitment and Retention StudyIn alignment with the HR’s mission to attract and retain qualified and diverse individuals to the organization, HR is conducting a comprehensive study of its recruitment and retention strategies. As a first step to the study, a Request for Proposal (RFP) has been launched to select a qualified firm or individual to lead the study. WRIPAC ConferenceThe Talent Acquisition team hosted the WRIPAC (Western Region Intergovernmental Personnel Assessment Council) Conference. Representatives from multiple jurisdictions throughout California and Nevada engaged in conversations around employee engagement and talent management. Improvements to Ergonomic Equipment OrderingThe Risk Management/Safety & Ergonomic team has partnered with Office Depot to launch a new website specifically for ordering ergonomic equipment to shorten the time between an employee’s ergonomic evaluation and receiving ergonomic equipment. The site includes only pre-approved ergonomic equipment and will only be available for County employees who complete an ergonomic assessment and receive specific equipment recommendations. HR Team Spotlight: EEO/D&IThe Equal Employment Opportunity / Diversity & Inclusion (EEO/D&I) team fosters an inclusive and diverse workforce through D&I initiatives including the County’s first Transgender Policy, lactation support for nursing mothers, and facilitating Inclusion Labs to create a more welcoming workplaces for all employees. Cal-ICMA Talent Action AwardThe County of San Mateo and HR was recognized at the 2020 City Managers/League of Cities Conference and received the Cal-ICMA Talent Action Award! The Cal-ICMA Talent Action program recognizes agencies for their comprehensive work in three talent management categories including attraction and recruitment, retention and development and improving workplace culture. MTEP GraduationThe Management Talent Exchange Program (MTEP) honored this cohort’s 9 participants from 7 host agencies. City Managers, Department Heads, and Participants from local government and special districts in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties attended the event. Participants shared their experiences and the impact the program had on their personal and professional growth and development while both participants and hosting agencies were recognized for their contributions during the three-month exchange. HR Recognition LuncheonOn December 19th, the Human Resources Department hosted a staff recognition event! The focus was on reflection, gratitude and wishes for 2020.
