Risk Management Information SystemIn February 2016, the County entered into an agreement with Origami Risk to develop a Risk Management Information System (RMIS) that will enable us to assist in the administration of our Workers' Compensation, Auto, General Liability, Property, Medical Malpractice, ADA, Intermittent Leave and Occupational Health. Employee Engagement WorkshopsThe Human Resources Department will be hosting 17 Engagement Workshops in February and March in order to assist Managers/Supervisors in learning about Engagement Levels and Drivers; understanding their Engagement Summary Reports; exploring the Engagement Portal and the resources within it; and sharing feasible action to increase engagement. Competencies for HR Success!Congratulations are in order for the eight members of our Personnel Services Division who graduated from the Northern California Chapter of the International Public Management Association-Human Resources (IPMA-HR) "Developing Competencies for HR Success" training program. The 3-day program covered competencies required to be a successful HR Expert, Leader, Business Partner, and Change Agent. Our team members will now prepare to take the examination to achieve the highly-regarded designation of IPMA-CP (Certified Professional).

Agile Organization Initiative – Term Cap liftedAs part of the Agile Organization initiative adopted by the Board in March 2013 the County introduced the “limited term” employment type to provide departments with more flexibility in hiring staff to meet service needs specific to short-term special projects, backfilling temporary absence of incumbent, intermittent work, or temporary increases in workload. Increasing transparency with the new Contract Management SystemThe Contract Management System (CMS) prototype is nearly finished. With oversight from the CMS Steering Committee, departments and contract teams continue to participate in design and development discussions and provide feedback during beta system previews. Our two pilot departments, Human Services Agency and San Mateo Medical Center, are on schedule to start training in May.
