The Career Development Assessment Center is a succession planning initiative sponsored by the County’s Succession Planning Implementation and Evaluation Committee, Human Resources Department, and County Manager’s Office. Each CDAC is hosted with a specific focus in mind, determined by workforce needs.

The purpose of the CDAC is to identify and develop skills, as well as develop competencies for future and promotional assignments, especially in these key areas:

  • Analytical Skills
  • Management
  • Verbal and Written Communication
  • Presentation Skills
  • Innovation
  • Creativity
  • Collaboration
  • Relationship Building
  • Problem Solving
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Performance
  • Big Picture Thinker
  • Politically Astute
  • Adaptability

The CDAC is an all-day event where participants perform job-related simulations, exercises, and take part in activities such as group discussions, oral presentations, role-playing, and individual assessments, analysis and report writing. Following the event, the participants will be partnered with a mentor to create a Development Plan (DP), receive targeted training, tools, and resources to successfully explore, develop and manage ones career.

There is an application and selection process involved for interested individuals which typically includes a resume, self-assessment, and supplemental questions. We do not currently have a timeline for the next CDAC.

Recent Career Development Assessment Centers include:

  • Aspiring Finance Managers (2015)
  • Aspiring Supervisors (2016)
  • Aspiring Supervisors (2017)
  • Aspiring Management Analysts (2017)
