EEO Advisory Committee

On October 10, the EEO Advisory Committee held a meeting hosted by the Sheriff’s Office where they presented an overview and demonstration of the T.A.I.L.S Program (Transitioning Animals Into Loving Situations) at Maple Street Correctional Center.  Shelter dogs are given care and training by minimum-security inmates while inmates are given an opportunity to learn and grow through training the dogs.
The Committee members were able to observe the inmates interact with the dogs that they trained and socialized. The inmates described how the TAILS program has helped them develop and enhance practical life skills, emotional connection, and bonding through the program.
