STEP Recognition Event

The Supported Training & Employment Program (STEP) celebrated it’s 10-year anniversary and acknowledged its participants, coaches, and supporters at the annual recognition ceremony on August 13th. Supervisor Don Horsley, Mike Callagy, and Rocio Kiryczun were in attendance to acknowledge the great work of the coaches and interns.

Since its inception, STEP has provided opportunities to over 130 former foster youth and has trained over 200 coaches. This year’s recognition ceremony was especially touching as STEP Intern Coordinator, Leslie Limon, shared a powerful testimonial and announced that she’d be accepting a regular position with the Human Services Agency. Leslie’s success story, along with the ones in progress, are a testament to STEP’s departmental support, resilient young adults, and tremendous coaches.

STEP was also featured on Millbrae TV for winning the CalGovHR Agency Award for Excellence. Felicia Flores, STEP Coordinator was the featured speaker, along with Auxi Trejos-Machado, a former STEP Intern. The video can be viewed here:
