The County is moving forward with an ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. On November 16, the County is hosting a Kick-Off with Disability Access Consultants and recently selected ADA Department Liaisons to set the framework, establish benchmarks for project milestones, and cover the roles and responsibilities of ADA Liaisons. This project is being undertaken to ensure that the County is complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), specifically Title II, which dictates that local governments must evaluate their services, programs, policies, and practices to determine whether they are in compliance with the nondiscrimination regulations of the ADA. Programmatic and facility evaluations will commence in December 2017. At the conclusion of this project, the County will have an extensive plan for removing existing barriers across the County allowing individuals with disabilities equal access to County buildings, equipment, programs and services.
